About Plain Bible Teaching

Plain Bible Teaching is a monthly online publication that contains articles on various Bible subjects. In addition to the articles from Plain Bible Teaching, this site will also include material I believe may be beneficial to others in their Bible study. These are primarily located in the Study section.

The Aim

The aim of Plain Bible Teaching is to "speak as the oracles of God" (1 Pet. 4:11). That simply means that whatever is taught here must first be taught in God's word. Jesus stated that He had "all authority" (Mt. 28:18) and that fact was the basis for the teaching done by the apostles (Mt. 28:19-20) and all others who believed "through their word" (Jn. 17:20). Since Jesus possesses "all authority," we are obligated to teach what has been prescribed in His word and refrain from adding the opinions, beliefs, and commands of ourselves or any other men.

The Purpose

The purpose of Plain Bible Teaching is to teach "the whole counsel of God" (Acts 20:27). In order to accomplish this, I will not shy away from "controversial" topics. In reality, everything taught in the Bible is controversial to someone. To abstain from a topic that someone might find controversial does nothing to help those who need to hear the truth on the subject.

That being said, this site will not be devoted wholly to controversial subjects. Again, the intention is to teach "the whole counsel of God." That means that the purpose of this site is to be useful to all. New Christians need to be taught "the pure milk of the word, so that by it [they] may grow" (1 Pet. 2:2) and "press on to maturity" (Heb. 6:1). Those who are more seasoned Christians need to be reminded "of these things, even though [they] already know them, and have been established in the truth" (2 Pet. 1:12). Weak and struggling Christians need to be encouraged so they will not "be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin" (Heb. 3:13). Erring Christians need to be shown "the error of [their] way" that they might be saved (James 5:19-20). Those who are not yet Christians need to be taught "the gospel...the power of God for salvation" (Rom. 1:16) so they may have opportunity to "receive the word implanted, which is able to save [their] souls" (James 1:21). As we are "speaking the truth in love" (Eph. 4:15), we must strive to teach things that will be helpful in all of those areas.

The Plan

The plan for Plain Bible Teaching is for it to be a monthly online publication with about 4 articles each month written by myself and others. As time passes, the number of articles may be more or less than that, depending on how busy I get or how must participation there is from others. But my hope is that this site will regularly have new articles on various Bible topics that will be useful to others.
